This
section contains the blessings and covenants pertaining to the obtaining of and
righteous use of the priesthood.
33 For
whoso is faithful unto the obtaining these two priesthoods of which I have
spoken, and the magnifying their calling, are sanctified by the Spirit unto the
renewing of their bodies.
34 They become the sons of Moses and of Aaron and the
seed of Abraham, and the church and kingdom, and the elect of God.
37 And he that receiveth
me receiveth my Father;
38 And he that receiveth
my Father receiveth my Father’s kingdom; therefore all that my Father hath
shall be given unto him.
39 And this is according
to the oath and covenant which belongeth to the priesthood.
I like the fact that covenanting
with the Lord brings new names. Like
when I was baptized I received a new name: Jesus. When I came to earth I received a new name:
Walter James Stone.
When I received the priesthood I
received three new names: Abraham, Aaron, and Moses.
It’s just the way the Lord does
things. If you make a promise with him
he is likely to give you a new name as a reference point, a commemoration, an acknowledgment
of new relationships and responsibilities, an adoption, with new adoptive
parents and new protective and familial kinship.
I am overjoyed to know that I am the
spirit son of Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother. I am also thrilled to be a
son of David Ray and Beverlee Bee, Jesus, Abraham, Aaron, and Moses and through
priesthood temple ordinances and covenants, an eternally sealed son of all of
the above. I am also humbled and
eternally grateful to have entered into temple sealing covenants with my dear
Jean and to know that our posterity is sealed to us for eternity.
