Oliver Cowdery must have been thrilled to be acting as scribe for Joseph Smith in the early days of translating the Book of Mormon.  He wanted to be able to translate like Joseph.  The Lord explained to him that this was done by the Gift of the Holy Ghost.  God was willing to give him answers to his prayers in his heart and mind if he asked with faith.  I have had the experience of receiving answers to my prayers through feelings and impressions given to my heart and mind through the Holy Ghost.
